Now most know I’m not too hot on Fords... but some of the old ones still hold an attraction....

The Economy of it all
This is for the Geeks out there (& me)
Went for a skid yesterday... nice day out in to Miranda and north Waikato
Testing out just how far I can go on a tank...
190Km and used 9.6 litres of fuel (1 stop) heaps of gear changes and hills for 1st 90Km and SHW1 back home 98Km, tried to get a good mix to average it out...90- 100- 110KmHr
So that’s 5.05L/100K
Filled and drained my tank empty standing up right (it has no reserve) 7.8 Litres
So riding hard I’m probably down to 120Km, easy riding not stopping and pulling away all the time could get out to 165Km
The 98Km SHW1/motorway ride home @ 100KM/Hr worked out at 4.69L/100Km... Real good.
Factory says XL1200 Sportster (1986 - 2003) - Fuel Economy Range: 43 to 51 mpg - 18 to 22 km per litre - 5.5 to 4.6 litres per 100 km
So I seem bang on even though I’ve modded intake, Pipes & removed Voes...
Not as bad as I thought, glad for the ride...
